About
The Comic Book Community Awards is a yearly event to celebrate comic book channels and creators on YouTube.
Nominations and Finalist voting are all community driven.
The goal of the awards is to allow the community to recognize the entertaining, informational, and creative nature of our comic book community members.
The CBC Awards was founded in 2021 with the first award show was live streamed on December 4, 2021, where 11 community members were awarded the first ever CBC Awarded trophies.
The 2022 Comic Book Community Awards featured 22 Community Award winners during the live stream on December 3rd, 2022.
The 2023 Comic Book Community Awards will open in May 2023. All the details will be revealed on April 14th.
General Guidelines for nominations, finalist voting, Life Time Achievement Award, and the CBC Awards Committee:
Nominations
All channels/creators actively producing content are eligible for nomination. (created video within the nomination period)
Channels/creators must meet the minimum requirements for the award category. (Example: a channel that consistently reviews comic books)
Once Nominations close, the committee will review them. The five finalists can be a mix of top nominations getters (4) and committee votes (1). The committee will only select channels/creators from the pool of channels/creators that received nominations.
This will help ensure all areas of the community will be represented in the finalist's list for each category.
The committee's selection of 1 finalist per category will be done when / where the opportunity presents itself.
If a tie occurs, channel views for the last five videos will be used to break the tie. The channel with the most views over those five videos will be declared the winner, and become a finalist. Shorts (videos less than 1 minute in length) will not be used to determine views.
The committee has the right to remove nomination ballots that vote for a single channel across all categories.
The committee has the right to remove nominated channels or creators if they don't meet the minimum requirements for the category. (Example: a channel that consistent reviews comic books)
Finalist Voting
The five channels/creators with the highest nomination totals that meet the minimum requirements will become the finalist for each award category.
The channel/creator with the highest vote total within the given award category will be declared the winner.
If a tie occurs, channel views for the last ten videos will be used to break the tie. The channel with the most views over those ten videos will be declared the winner. Shorts (videos less than 1 minute in length) will not be used to determine views.
Life Time Achievement Awards Criteria
You must have been producing content on YouTube for three plus years.
You must have a minimum of 1500 subscribers.
A channel needs at least “3” nominations to make the final cut for consideration by the committee.
The committee will review the channel that meets the above criteria and produce a list of five finalists for the Life Time Achievement Award.
Community votes will be collected, but the committee will declare a winner.
You may only win this award once for a specific channel (I.e., if you have a second channel or start a new one with a “materially” different focus you may win again for that second channel.
Comic Book Community Awards Committee
The goal of the committee is to help shape the Comic Book Community Awards, validate results, and settle any ties or disputes.
The committee is a volunteer position and is open to anyone.
The committee will be in place for the given award year.
After each award ceremony in December committee applications will open for the next award year.
